[enter-talk] Idol Groups’ Monthly Digital Chart Ranking vs Monthly Karaoke Ranking

Look at this list. Pann is full of idol fans, so you won’t see these kind of lists here. Fans may have power on the digital charts, but not on the karaoke charts. The funny thing is that karaoke is a big culture in Korea, and there are almost no people who don’t go to karaoke.

So let me give you my opinion on this chart. Some of the songs that do well on the digital charts but do poorly on karaoke are probably due to the release date or promotion. For example, New Jeans’ Attention was released a day before Hype Boy, but Hype Boy was so overwhelming that although people listened to Attention, it couldn’t beat Hype Boy on karaoke.

1.[+556, -33] This reminds me of Jung Min-jae’s interview. He said BTS is doing well on charts thanks to their fandom’s chart manipulation, but the general public doesn’t know their songs ㅋㅋ Melon allowed each person to create multiple accounts, allowed foreigners to do the same, and unlimited stream packs, and the charts became so weird after 2016-2017ㅜㅜㅜ

2.[+409, -24] HYBE is like that;; The verdict has already been handed down

3.[+327, -3] Honestly, unless you’re a young person or interested in idols, there there is a limit for idols in karaoke. People usually sing Bigbang, BlackPink, 2NE1 and other YG groups as idol groups. Even if they sing the other idol songs, they are just hits like today’s Supernova

4.[+232, -19] Just because a song has been in the top 100 for several years doesn’t mean it’s a hit song. Even the biggest mega hits don’t make it to the top 100 the next year, and usually fall out of the top 100 after about 10 months. If you look at the digital rankings of BTS songs, they’re already not that high. Fans just keep them in the top 100 by streaming, but in reality, if they’re not in the top 10, it’s worthless. The reason why BTS songs, including “Spring Day,” have so many unique listeners is because fans stream certain songs every day to keep them on the daily tchart. Since they’re in the top 100 every day/week/month, when a muggle plays the daily chart, weekly chart, or monthly chart, they’ll eventually come across BTS songs and then BTS will have another new listener added to their list. I also know that foreign fans are pooling their funds to buy as many streaming passes as possible and giving them to their fans. That’s why “Spring Day,” which ranked the highest, is the most streamed song and has the most unique listeners.

5.[+182, -20] There is only one group whose digital chart and karaoke chart ranking don’t match up ㅋㅋ Spring Day is a ballad song and easy to sing. This is proof that Spring Day is not a popular song. After a few years, when the fandom grew, it contrasted with the digital chart. Even Wanna One’s Energetic is ranked higher in karaoke than Spring Day.

6.[+176 -14] Actually Bigbang’s Bang Bang Bang has the same story with New Jeans’ Attention. It’s popularity was so overwhelming that it didn’t leave any room for their other songs

7.[+153, -9] Bigbang, EXO, 2NE1 and BlackPink are really awesome

8.[+145, -2] The reason why songs that were released in 2010s like 2NE1’s Lonely seem like not long-lasting on digital charts is because CyWorld was the most popular music service back then, and CyWorld don’t reflect to charts today

9.[+142, -2] IVE is fine

10.[+137, -14] Armys claim that Spring Day is BTS’ megahit song but on the karaoke chart, Growl alone ranks higher and lasts longer than Spring Day, Dynamite, Blood Sweat&Tears and Fake Love combined
