aespa Karina (Yoo Ji-min) has explained her 'political color controversy.'
On the 6th, Karina addressed the controversy in a video of singer-songwriter Jung Jae-hyung's YouTube channel 'Fairy Jae-hyung' and stated, "I had no such intention at all. I feel very sorry for causing concern to my fans and many others."
On May 27, Karina posted a casual photo taken on a street in Japan on her IG while wearing a black jacket with red stripes. Particularly, the number 2 was written on the chest. Red is a color symbolizing the People Power Party, and at the time, the election symbol for Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, was number 2. This led to online speculation that "Karina supports the People Power Party." As the controversy arose, Karina immediately deleted the photo.
Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung also faced a similar controversy. On the day before the 21st presidential election voting day, last month on the 2nd, Hong posted pictures wearing a red top symbolizing the People Power Party on her SNS, and deleted them the next day after controversy arose.
Karina explained the situation when the photo was taken, saying, "I just bought a coat because of the chilly weather and posted it to communicate with fans. I realized I need to be more aware and study more. I was indeed too ignorant." She confessed, "Anyway, since I threw out a topic, it's right that I have to handle it, but it was very difficult because even the other members were affected."
Just like Karina, model and broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung who also faced similar controversy wrote an apology stating, "I can't believe I made such a foolish mistake during a sensitive time. I would stake my daughter's life on it, there was no political intent."
- [+818, -195] When Democratic Party supporters declare support publicly they get praised. Why is it that people on the other side have to hide and explain themselves? What is this, North Korea?!
- [+329, -30] Why is she even explaining herself?
- [+272, -72] Karina's only doing this because Lee Jae-myung won. Honestly, if it were just a red shirt during the presidential election period, I could maybe understand. But she literally wore something with a giant '2' on it. And we're supposed to buy that excuse? I don't. Just say it straight: "Yeah, I supported #2, that's who I picked."
- [+242, -51] That was a blatant political statement. Don't lie about it.
- [+189, -20] With Hong Jin-kyung I actually believe she didn't know. But Karina saying she didn't know kinda sounds like, "I didn't know the People Power Party would lose."
- [+44, -6] Anyone can see she was openly showing support for candidate #2. What do you mean "you didn't know?"
- [+33, -21] What did you do, accidentally reveal your true colors? How do you go promoting a coup-leading dictator? All you know how do is sing, you've got zero sense of justice or independent thought생
- [+33, -6] She didn't know? In such a politically sensitive time, she wears a bright red shirt with a giant #2 on it? 미No way someone is that ignorant unless they've lost their mentals? Are you in middle school or high school? You're an adult, and a public figure who communicates with the public and you didn't know what that meant at that time?
- [+26, -2] Karina-ya, you clearly supported #2. Stop with the excuses...
- [+23, -0] If you were bold enough to post it back then, then just stay shameless. Cut the excuses and stick to your guns. Why are you trying to backpedal now and look all pitiful?!
- [+22, -9] First the chopsticks thing, and now she gets slammed again over politics..
- [+18, -6] Is this a comedy.. don't make me laugh with this "cut Karina off," talk, we all know it was intentional. What are the odds that she just happened to wear a red shirt with the number 2 right then? A choding doing political propaganda, seriously
- [+13, -1] Whatever your intent was, a few days before the election you post a pic with a red shirt with a big #2 on it and cover your mouth? That's literally textbook political messaging, showing instead of saying하. Who wouldn't suspect that?
