EXID member-turned-actress Hani cautiously opened up about the emotional wounds she’s suffered due to the postponement of her marriage with psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong.
On the July 7th episode of MBN’s 'Oh Eun-young Stay' (Ep. 3), Hani appeared as the featured guest under the keyword “watching others’ reactions” (눈치) and shared her personal thoughts.
When Dr. Oh Eun-young asked, “Who might be associated with the word ‘눈치’ (being overly self-conscious or concerned with others’ opinions)?”, Hani revealed that it was her, saying, “I tend to be really aware of others. But now, I just want to stop reading the room so much. It’s exhausting. I think I’ve just always been in an environment, like the entertainment industry, where I had to be that way."
"Lately, after going through a lot of things, I’ve been realizing more and more that life doesn’t always go the way I want it to."
Shortly after, a video clip played announcing her marriage, subtly revealing that the postponement of her wedding was a recent source of emotional distress and increased self-consciousness.
Hani reflected, “I’ve come to realize I can’t always choose what happens in my life. And through that, I’ve kind of naturally started letting go of this need to control everything.”
Then, almost to herself, she quietly added, "Is it really okay to live like that?" hinting at a deeper internal struggle.
Hani had been in a relationship for four years with Yang Jae-woong, a psychiatrist and TV personality. The two had planned to marry in September 2024. However, the wedding was postponed indefinitely after a patient died in a medical accident at the psychiatric hospital where Yang serves as director.
