Singer and right-winger JK Kim Dong-wook (49, John Kim) has mentioned aespa Karina.

On the 31st, Kim Dong-wook posted a photo of People's Power Party's presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo's campaign vehicle in front of his vehicle and wrote, "There's a fuss everywhere about how Karina is protected by uncles but its the people are tirelessly protecting Kim Moon-soo day and night. Let's send a strong charismatic message to the people one last time. I will be the last bastion of conservatism. As the leader of this country's liberal democracy, no one can hurt the hearts of the people without stepping over me."

He added, "South Korea needs a strong leader. Support candidate Kim Moon-soo."

JK Kim Dong-wook had also mentioned Karina previously on the 28th after Karina's "Red 2" outfit controversy exploded. Kim Dong-wook wrote on his social media, "A gentleman who used to run a notable company once said, 'Dong-wook doesn't have an agency so he can make political remarks without hesitation. These days, even idols from large agencies express their opinions confidently."

Some questioned why Kim Dong-wook mentioned Karina and he clarified on the 29th, "I said idols, not specifically Karina. Among idol juniors I know, there are many who associate with #2. Even in sensitive times, let kids make a 'V' sign. It's unfortunate to make them worry about making a 'V' sign in front of fans."

Kim Dong-wook has consistently shown his conservative political colors including opposing former President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment. When Yoon was removed by the Constitutional Court, he expressed his anger stating, "South Korea has become a country with the highest number of presidential impeachments in the world. Our collapse is coming faster than expected."

Despite being born in Seoul in 1975, JK Kim Dong-wook immigrated to Canada with his family in 1992 during his second year of high school and acquired Canadian citizenship, leading to accusations of violating foreign political activity restrictions. Nevertheless, he continues to express his political views and has publicly declared his support for candidate Kim Moon-soo in this presidential election.

Meanwhile, aespa Karina released a statement through SM on the 28th apologizing for the 'Red 2' post. She also apologized to fans on Bubble writing, "I'm really sorry for making MY [aespa fandom] worry, I will pay more attention and act more cautiously in the future."
