Aespa Karina is embroiled in controversy in Korea after a newly leaked post.

On the 27th, Karina uploaded a photo on her IG looking directly at the camera wearing a black jacket with red stripes with a red "2" emblazoned in front. She also captioned the post with a "rose" emoji which many interpreted as a political statement. She quickly deleted the post and can no longer be found on IG.

In a press release on the 28th, SM Entertainment explained, "Karina was simply sharing a moment from her daily life with no other purpose or intent. Once she realized the potential for misunderstanding, she immediately deleted the post. We sincerely apologize for any unintended concern this may have caused."

Because the jacket prominently displayed the "2" in red, it has led to speculations that she was expressing support for a particular political party or candidate. The timing of the post also coincided with the final televised debate between the presidential candidates, further fueling the ongoing controversy.
